Balkan’s Rhapsody

This choreography draws upon the rhythms, the gestures, and the cultural expressions of the Roma people in the Balkans. It foregrounds the structure of the Kolo, a Slavic dance structure, based upon the opening and closing of a moving circle. This dynamic geometric figure is an embodied metaphor for the community.
